Hey Reader,

Packing for Edinburgh is a bit like preparing for a surprise party you know is happening… you just don’t know where, when, or what to wear.

You’ll need layers. And then layers for your layers.

So to help you skip the guesswork (and avoid packing three jumpers but no socks — yes, that happened), here’s a quick packing checklist I use myself:

Your No-Stress Edinburgh Packing List

  • Waterproof jacket — even if it looks sunny, trust me
  • Comfy walking shoes — you’ll be tackling cobblestones and hills
  • Layerable clothing — think t-shirts, long sleeves, and one solid jumper
  • A good backpack or day bag — hands-free is key when you're climbing Arthur's Seat
  • Universal plug adapter — if you're coming from outside the UK, you'll need one
  • Reusable water bottle — the tap water here is excellent
  • An extra tote or fold-up bag — because you will end up buying books

That’s just the basics. If you want the full breakdown by season (and a few underrated essentials), I’ve laid it all out for you here:

Oh — and before you go, I’d love to know:

What’s the one thing you always overpack, or forget entirely?

Hit reply and tell me. You’re definitely not alone.
